Let's say NO to Guidance Value based Property Tax System

1450 have signed

BBMP’s proposed new tax calculation system in line with guidance value is anticipated to significantly elevate property taxes throughout Bengaluru. Especially in the absence of an elected Council, the Chief Commissioner of BBMP or the State Government should refrain from taking such decisions that would increase the financial burden for citizens of Bengaluru.

Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP) seeks to get support from the CM of Karnataka against the implementation of a new property tax calculation system proposed by the Chief Commissioner of BBMP. Please join the campaign by signing the petition to the CM of Karnataka below.

Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party's (BNP) Petition to Karnataka CM

WE DEMAND THE CHIEF MINISTER TO HALT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW PROPERTY TAX SYSTEM PROPOSED BY THE BBMP CHIEF COMMISSIONER WHICH IS SAID TO BE EFFECTIVE FROM 1ST APRIL, 2024.

To,

Honourable CM,
Government of Karnataka.

Dear Sir,

The Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has suggested implementing a revised Property Tax system starting from April 1st, 2024. This new method of tax assessment, which aligns with the guidance value, is expected to substantially raise property taxes across Bengaluru. There has been ongoing concern regarding BBMP's handling of Property Tax, including the issuance of unjust notices to numerous property owners and the failure to refund or adjust previously paid taxes. The introduction of this proposal raises additional concerns, particularly in the absence of an elected Council.

  • Significant decisions that financially burden the citizens should not be taken until the BBMP Council is formed.
  • Using Guidance value to calculate property tax is fallacious and unreasonable.
  • BBMP should ensure to effectively collect taxes from defaulters.
  • BBMP should make its accounts and project details transparent.
