Let’s demand transparency, accountability and citizen participation in all projects! After all, it’s our money!

Dear Mahadevapura Citizen,

Mahadevapura Zone is one of the highest tax-paying areas in our country, despite which, the infrastructure is in shambles. Thousands of crores have been spent but due to corruption, mismanagement and misgovernance, a vast part of the money has gone unaccounted. Most importantly, there have been no accounts or transparency to any of these amounts spent.

Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP) is committed to bringing transparency, citizen participation and accountability to all the money spent on projects. BNP has made transparent all ward-level projects (63,629 projects worth ₹21,653 crores), approved and executed by BBMP, on the Citizens Portal of its website www.nammabnp.org.

However, there is no visibility or transparency or citizen involvement in the ongoing projects. After the flooding that happened recently, the State Government has announced ₹1,800 cr worth of storm water drain projects, a good part of which has been reserved for Mahadevapura. Below are a few of the projects that have been approved recently.

However, the above are only a few of the approved projects and there are many more such projects that have been approved and to be executed, not just on storm water drains, but also relating to roads, footpaths and other civic amenities.

It is time to ensure that this money is spent properly without any corruption, mismanagement or misgovernance. Let’s demand transparency, citizen participation and proper accounts of all the projects to ensure that the past mistakes are not repeated.
